Overview

Compass Point is a new exhibit at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium to be located between Lake Drive and the Beer Den abutting the Jungle Trail. The future building will include an indoor exhibit with rental space for receptions, an outdoor exhibit, a service road with loading docks, and a landscape buffer. A new path adjacent to the site will connect the aquarium to the Jungle Trail. The Klavon team was tasked with designing and landscape buffer that would begin with more tropical plantings adjacent to the Jungle Trail to the north, and blend into native temperate plantings as the new path moves south. A vegetated retaining wall flanks the east side of the new path.
