crown castle corporate campus

canonsburg, PA

Overview

The Crown Castle business purchased a building adjacent to meet their growing business needs and desired to create one large corporate campus with a physical connection between both buildings. Although the location offers scenic views of the surrounding western Pennsylvania countryside, much of the vegetation and the topsoil was removed to make way for the new development. Unfortunately, the users are exposed to a very windy and cold site. The goal was to create a covered connection between the two buildings and to protect pedestrians from harsh wind and weather conditions. The two buildings were completely different styles of architecture with very different building materials, creating a challenge designing a new connection that would complement both buildings and integrate them into one corporate campus. A material palette was employed that incorporated complementary materials from both buildings. The design also provides outdoor gathering and meeting spaces for large and small groups, provides parking capacity for 850+ spaces, and provides a recreational trail around the perimeter of the site for employee use.
