US Navy – NAS Patuxent River Installation Master Plan

The Installation Master Plan for Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River sets a framework to achieve economies and efficiencies in land and facilities as NAS Patuxent River moves forward toward 2035, and beyond. The goal of the Master Plan is to create an integrated series of documents which present in graphic, narrative, and tabular form, the present composition of the installation, and a plan for orderly and comprehensive long-range development. This plan was accomplished through a collaborative effort between the Naval Facilities Command (NAVFAC) Washington, and the project team, led by Klavon Design Associates, Inc.

The design team conducted an extensive review of available data, to determine current and future requirements provided by Naval District Washington. Team members worked on site, and participated in a week of discussions and meetings with key stakeholders in order to understand current and future requirements. Once preliminary interviews were concluded, potential Master Plan scenarios were developed. These scenarios were presented to the team during a two-day charrette, and design workshop. Input generated during these two meetings was used to develop recommendations for short-range, mid-range and long-range projects. As part of the consensus building all scenarios and the Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) were presented and vetted during a working group session with NAWC AD, NAS Patuxent River Air Ops, Naval Test Wing Atlantic, Navy Exchange, NAS I-N9, NAV AIR, and PWD. The final comments were incorporated into the production of a final Master Plan.
