Overview

The City of Beaver Falls has initiated a project to rehabilitate an existing park. The 2nd Ave Park is a hidden gem in the neighborhood and the local birthplace of some of Beaver Falls’ greatest athletes. 2nd Ave Park is known for its basketball courts and the famous basketball players that arose from the area. Its also known for Beaver Falls’ Juneteenth National Independence Day celebration on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. Several local residents are investing in this historical location to preserve its legacy and improve the area for more years of family fun and play.

The City of Beaver Falls on behalf of a working group of residents and the Mayor approached the Community Development Program of Beaver County for partnership. The Community Development Program of Beaver County joined this group’s work by becoming its fiscal sponsor.

Features of the new park includes renovated restrooms, storage area, picnic shelter, basketball courts, walks, fencing, signage, and landscaping.
